The $8,000 tax credit - Good or Bad!

So much is being said about the housing market and what the government is doing to keep it from crashing. The $8,000 tax credit has been looked upon as the savior to keeping the housing market at float; however, many are convinced that the government will never recuperate this money and that our economy will continue to worsen. What's your take on this?
